rabs valve - can fitting be replaced?

Still fighting the fitting on the rabs valve - the rusty steel and aluminum rabs valve seem to be one, no matter what I try, it won't come apart. PB Blast, SP3, Freeze Off, none worked. It's a corroded glob.
Two questions, I guess. One, even if I get the fitting out, do these valves fail often (I have 172k on the truck)? Wonder if it should just be replaced, since it's so rusty.
Question two: I can get a new valve, but the fitting does not seem to be available. Does it have to be that 2" long fitting, or can a regular brake line fitting be used? I can't figure out why Ford use this thing. It's so pitted, besides being stuck, that I doubt it will be reuseable.
Anyone use a standard 3/16" brake fitting instead of the long Ford fitting and have it work? I don't see why it won't work, but also can't help but think there was a reason for it.
Just need to get this thing back on the road soon. Thanks.
