Ok, so late last week, i had a SES light pop on, truck started running like poo one morning. Had a misfire on 1,2,3 and 7. Also, at the same time, the a/c quit running. 11 years, never had a problem, always blows cold, one morning nothing.
I get 4 new coils, swap them out, unplug the battery while doing this. Plug everything back in, still showing a misfire on #2 (code P0352 i think). I swap the #1 and #2 coil, still shows a misfire on #2. I swap out the plug with a spanking new Motorcraft plug, still misfire. Get my handy electrical tester, i have power to the ignition coil and to the injector. Swap out the injector with a new one, just because it's fun to get dirty, still misfire on #2.
Any takers?

Jesse, you didn't look at the code description.
A 352 is the primary side of the coil and very specific.
An injector is not the answer nor is a spark plug, for this code.
There is either a loss of the circuit to the computer or the computer switch for that cylinder is faulty.
Look back toward the computer for that coil and read the resistance.
If open the harness could be open or the switch for that cylinder is open.
If very low resistance the switch is shorted.
Should read about 10,000 ohms to be good.
Compare to other good cylinders for reference readings.
If you find that cylinder switch is faulty the PCM has to be replaced and programmed for your build and PATS..

Thanks Bluegrass! See this is why I come here. What you described is way above my pay grade so I dropped it at the mechanic this morning. I went over everything I had checked so he was going to start on the electrical side. I had the pcm replaced about 2 years ago at the dealer for a no-start pats flashing. I can't spend another 1500 for that again...
Anyone have an idea how much a PCM is really going to cost? I feel i get reamed by the dealer last time.. not sure if there are other options or not. Still trying to get it to a different dealer in town to have them trouble shoot.
The injector shut down when that coil circuit went bad. That still doesn't solve the misfire. I think Bluegrass is on the money. It has to be wiring or PCM. You should be able to locate a reman Motorcraft PCM. Shop around before you pay dealer prices. Good Luck

And Bluegrass is the winner... finally got to the dealer this morning. The pcm is shot (again). I had it replaced two years ago. Even the dealer can't get one from Ford, they quoted me $800 for one from NAPA. If i fix it, that would be over $4500 i have spent on the truck since March. Kinda getting hard to justify when the truck isn't even worth that much.
Going to talk it over with the wife tonight.. kinda make a decision. I need (want) a crew cab now with the little one. But i don't want a car payment...oh well...

So what's on the top shelf ? Just curious. More GOJO lol?
I wonder what causes the PCM to go south ? Probably many causes, but If I had to guess I'd say water intrusion, short, surge or perhaps the GEM for the same reasons.
These dang trucks do leak and the harness can rub thru in spots.

Sorry to hear it's the PCM.
A way to win I don't care much for.
Just a final word; If a coil shorts it's winding there is 13 volts waiting to be grounded by the switch.
The switch and board trace will only take just so much current before burning open.
The single fuse that supplies all the coils is too large in rating to blow from a single fault so something has to give back in the PCM.
Without proof I would blame a faulty coil for you situation.
I have saw it happen before.

BTW, on the 09-14 board I have been weighting in on the new truck/s upshift vibration issue.
Company/dealers says they don't have a fix but they do, it's the bean counters that won't give in.
I told the guys what to do and some have begun doing it on their own and it's beginning to solve their $50,000 new truck problem.

Thanks Bluegrass. In talking to the service writer yesterday, i found out he was a mechanic for Ford for 10 years prior.. he owns a 2003 F150. He agreed that it's uncommon to lose a PCM, and even more uncommon to lose another one 2 years later. He feels there may be a short somewhere in the system, whether it be an open wire or something else that could be the culprit. I would hate to replace the PCM again and have it crap out again in a year or 15 months due to another coil failing or the invisible short. Decisions decisions.. it's really been a great truck up until the last year or so.. 168,000 miles.. lots of good memories in those miles. Lots of boy scout campouts, first date with the wife...
But, it may be time to start new memories in a newer truck...

That's a good reason to sell IMO.
I guess it depends upon how attached you are. I couldn't sell my 98 that easy. I've had it since new.

Wow, this is an old thread. I actually wound up trading my truck in on a 2012 Silverado back in February. I never swapped out the pcm, just drove it into the ground, and still got $4500 out of it. Hope you have better luck with yours.
