Need A Transponder Key?

Home Depot now cuts them. If you do decide to use their cutting services, make sure they've done it before. I was the second Ford customer to ask, and they were unable to help the first customer get his key working.

As it turns out, the employees weren't getting the keys coded AT ALL, and they were tripping PATS.

After I pointed out this little oversight, I successfully had a spare cut. I actually got to push some buttons on the "EZ-Clone" machine because he let me read the user guide.

I actually had a transponder key I bought off eBay for $8. All I needed was to get it cut and coded, and I asked, but they refused. Instead, you have to buy one of their keys for $70. A local Ford dealer quoted me about $90 for another key and program, so either way they absolutely rape you on the price, but Home Depot raped less. It does suck that the key they sell doesn't look at all like the OEM key.

All in all, a nice 45 MINUTE experience. The guy even said I should work there!
