broken steering column lock shifter pin
Hello All,
I have a question regarding the steering column lock shifter pin of my '97 f-150:
My shift lever had been very loose for months and wouldn't shift into park. A couple of days ago it became so loose it wouldn't shift at all. Thanks to a youtube-video i solved this problem: I just needed to tighten the bolts holding the "transmission selector control lower level" to the "transmission selector control tube". Everything seems to work fine.
Anyway; while i was busy i noticed a pin on the floor of which i'm pretty sure is the "steering column lock shifter pin" and one end looks broken.
Can anyone tell me what this pin does? And can i just happily and safely go driving without it?
I would appreciate your input on this, thanks!
