No horn or cruise control

Hey guys, about a year ago the horn and cruise control stopped working on my 1997 F150. Now its time for inspection and I am trying to get it fixed. I just put a new clock spring in and I had no luck the horn and cruise still don't work. I am not sure what else to try. I have checked fuses and wires and can't seem to find the problem. I haven't checked to see if there may be 2 separate issues. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My thoughts with nothing else to go with.
Fuse 5 and relay position 5 in the engine bay box for the horn.
Does the relay click when the horn steering wheel is pushed?
If no the relay is not getting the switch closure.
If yes it's the horn or it's power circuit.
.
Fuse 5 on the dash fuse panel for CC.
.
Look at the cable under the dash near bottom of column.
This is the only place they come togather beside in the steering wheel area.
Good luck.

I had the exact problem on my 98 truck. It turned out to be the clock spring. It was a cheap fix and solved my problem right away. Hope that is of some help.

Cheers

If you read closer, you'll see he clearly stated he had already replaced the clock spring....

Shouldn't need the cruise for a safety inspection, but the horn has to work. Have someone press the horn pad on the steering wheel while you check to see if the horn relay in the under-hood box clicks (or not). That will tell you which half of the circuit needs to be investigated. You might have anything from bad horns to a bad relay to blown fuse to a bad horn switch in the steering wheel. Narrowing down the options is important unless you like to just guess.

Also, you'll have no horn if the cruise control servo goodie under the hood is removed, so I suspect you can have the servo fail in some manner to make the horn not work. Make sure the cruise servo is plugged in and none of the terminals are corroded.

I had the same thing happen to me. I was sure it was the clock spring but it wasn't then I went to the switch on the master cylinder but still no luck. I decided to look at the servo and I made sure the connector was push all the way in and the horn and cruise control started working. So I checked the fuses changed the clock spring and the switch to the master cylinder and still no worky. But jiggling the wires did the trick oh well that's how baseball go sometimes.

Sorry buddy, guess i didnt read it good enough.

further to my comments above, I changed my clock spring out with a brand new unit purchased from ebay, once in, i had no horn nor cruise control still, So to pass rego I had a temporary button hooked up and wrote horn on it (like I said, it was a pretty damn near the exact same problem) when i finally had a new unit turn up (replaced for free by the ebay seller from the USA) I had it done professionally this time by an auto electrician and he deemed it nessecary to modify the wiring on the end of the clock spring and fitted a new plug for some reason.
Did you happen to buy your clock spring from Ebay?.. it could be the unit itself.. maybe

in future i'll try my best to better clarify big technical words like "Exact" and make my posts a bit clearer.

I got the clockspring from ford. After I got one from Rock Auto that didn't have the same connectors for the horn at all. All of the wires off of where they connect seem to be in good shape.

I had someone push the horn pad and I put my ear on the relay. No click. So I swapped the horn relay with the PCM relay in position 6 and still no click and the truck is running fine. So it's not the relay. Could it be the horn pad itself? if so is that replaceable without needing a whole new airbag module?

Also if it is the cruise control how do I test to see if the servo is good. I have checked all the fuses for the cruise. I have no idea what it could be.

Anymore info would be great! Thanks

no horn or cruise

I was in the same boat I changed just about everything. Till I stumbled across the wiring harness to the cruise control servo was not making good connection try pushing or wiggling it or even pull it off and inspect the contacts.
