Seat Belt Torture

Hi Team,

I don't suppose anyone has come across any aftermarket products to do something with this horrendous seat belt design integrated in to the seat? I've even contemplated replacing the whole dam seat with something better.

Like everyone elses Im sure...mine doesn't retract well but it's basically a noose when I'm driving.

Just wondering if anyone knows of anything...

Thanks!

Mike

Go to the dealer and get a 8" extension. That will change where the belt rides across your chest/neck. They are free. Just tell them year and model.

Thank you for the response kingfish51...

I figured those extensions were really for the big fellas. I'm average size so I'm not sure if this would help in my case.

The problem is that it fails to retract but what little it does, its very tight to pull out any slack for comfort and therefore feels like I'm using a tie down vs a seat belt. I usually end up shoving it under my arm pit cuz its so uncomfortable.

I read about teflon tape fix for the retraction but most people have said it fails again within a few months. I think I'm pretty much stuck with it but I'd love to see an aftermarket unit that would fix this...wishful thinking.

Thanks again...

Mike

You might try the dealer. Can't remember for certain, but I believe there was a recall on the seat belt retracter on some years of the F150. Just don't remember which.
As far as the exctension, I am a big guy, but don't need it for the length, but for the position it rides across my chest, rather the near my throat.

Hey I guess it's worth a shot and if it's free from the dealer...icing on the cake.

Thanks for your help
