Actually it is true. The transmission will not last for long.

the 5 speed trannys are very weak from what i have read, the extra torq will kill it.

The M5OD-R2 is a light duty transmission built by Mazda. It was not designed for a V-8. It's marginal behind a 4.6 so a 5.4 will really strain it. It has a weak input shaft.

Is there anything I can do to strengthen the transmission, I have been talking to more people and doing research, and everyone says the same thing

Should be the same one. There are however 2 different transfer cases. One is electric shift on the fly and one is manual shift on the fly.

FYI the 4.6 develops 390 ft/lbs of torque. I broke 3 M5OD with a 4.6. The 5.4 develops 350 ft/lbs. You can use a ZF transmission from a SuperDuty but it will be a very tight fit.

Check your post for typos, JMC - the 5.4 has considerably more torque than the 4.6.

You broke 3 of them with the 4.6, now how many have you broke with the 5.4?

I believe the ZF needs a body lift and/or hacking out the tunnel to fit.

OOPS! 290 for the 4.6. I lost count on how many with the 5.4. And yes the ZF needs massaging of the tranny tunnel or a body lift.
