suspension question

just wondering if someone could tell me how many leaf springs a 1999 scab xlt package should have mine has 4 total with the factory block just wondering if this is normal or not cause i saw a 1997 with only 2 leafs

Normal, there's a bunch of different style oem leaf packs.

Yea...and it ain't easy to figure our what pack goes with what package either!! I was shopping for a SD a few years back and between the 250's and 350's we looked at, I swear I found around 10 different variants. Could not figure out any rhyme or reason either. Found 250's with more leafs than some 350's, and all kinds of random setups like that.

I have 3 OEM leafs on my 97. Not near enough for my needs.. I added another 3 leafs in the form of an 'overload' spring pack..

Much better...

What about the trucks GVWR?? Well, don't ask on that one! ha, ha!
