Heater core change question

I'll open it back up.

Question was whether it was a concern for anything cracking from the lack of coolant doing a heater core change and coolant system flush over the coarse of a few days with temps in the 20-30s

Nope as long as what is left in there is still antifreeze.

The only thing I would worry about is the plastic dash. Working with old already brittle plastic then adding the cold factor could make for some fun.

I guess I answered too slow.

Thanks

Not looking forward to it at all. Especially in the cold. I may do it at my brothers.

Nevermind, got the heater core out...

4 hours of fun.

$24 per retainer clip for the quick connect piece that I broke on the heater core side, just the side that attaches to the heater core, not the hose side..... $48 for 2, blows my mind. Thanks Ford. love ya

4 hours to remove, 2 hours driving around getting parts, 20 minutes to put the core in and close the door. Tomorrow, I'm guessing 2-3 hours to put the dash back together.

Blend door was not broke. Wanted to swap it out for a dorman repaired door with the sleeve but it was 2-3 days out. So, old door went back in. If it breaks I'll have to consider lighting it on fire and calling the insurance.

It's amazing how many screws hold that dash together...

Anyone know what the connecter under the oval trim piece that goes on the top of the dash just above the air bag passenger side? There is a connecter that mounts under the trim piece. It was the last piece I was putting on today and just now noticed the cab wire harness and connector got pushed between a cab support and 2" thick wire harness when I put the main dash back in. Now there is no way to get to it. I can see it but can't bend the main harness enough to get it unstuck. Is it important? Something that was optional? I dunno. Any help would be appreciated.

At this point if it is needed, my options are to cut the 5 wires, pull the connector out and solder/connect them back.

It's an RPO relay??

Crap, it's 4x4 related. Looks like I'm cutting wires

Don't cut the wires, just loosen the dash support bar and squeeze it through

It was wedged between the dash harness which is about 2" thick and the cab support bar which is welded I believe on both driver and passenger side. I cut the wires, fed the connector through and reconnected with new weather proof connectors. All seems well.
