Squeaking sound in front passenger side wheel well
It is late, and I work 12 hours tomorrow, so I am not going to look into it now or tomorrow, but I am just trying to get some other thoughts about this.
-I just noticed that I am getting a squeaking sound from my wheel well on my passenger side.It is happening when that tire is turning (weather I am on the brake or not, So I know it is not my brakes). It is most noticeable when I am moving slow(under 10mph).It is not a constant squeak (there is a slight pause every time it squeaks)
Any thought on what I should check or do first?
thanks!

A bearing, = Jack it up, grab the wheel 9:00/3:00, spin pulling out, then spin pushing in. Then again @ 12:00/6:00. Listen and feel for bearing roughness at the same time, while performing procedure.
A bad ball joint, yea, should only squeak when turning really. From one direction to the other, weighted (not so much jacked up, if at all). Unless they're totally gone lol.
Here's a You Tube Flick for yuh, -

Oh well, -have fun, I guess.
I agree it COULD be ball joints, but if the repetition rate increases with wheel speed and it does it on a smooth road, it's more likely not. Seems to me that a ball joint would need suspension movement to make noise.
We still don't know if this is 2wd or 4wd. 2wd is going to most likely be wheel bearing or the dust shield. 4wd could also be a CV joint, but those usually click, not squeak.

I don't swing on that swingset, jbrew
OP, when you say "turning" do you mean rotating or turning the wheel left to right? You could check by shutting off the truck and push up/down on the truck to see if it does it with nothing running. That would narrow it down.

OP,- If it's the ball joints, -Auto Zone still has that free loaner program. Borrow their bushing press and pickle fork or puller (there's two types of pullers). For both tools you might have to leave Auto Zone a $100 retainer. But your fully refunded once you return the tools. An Impact would be choice of course, but you can do it without. Proper torque is always important. Evan at the wheel lugs with these front ends, sooo.
Btw, -A little compressor WILL run a 1/2" gun IF, - you use a 3/8" ID x 1/2 OD barbed fitting @ compressor hose connection. And the shortest length of 1/2 ID hose possible (around 25') to the gun connection. High flow fittings at the gun is recommended as they provide more than twice the CFM. They're cheap ! BUT, use only steel HF fittings at the gun, - not the brass HVLP fittings. You'll bust those right off. That's allot air real fast and that snake bites hard lol!
Good luck!
I know, I thought maybe you were some form of special. Maybe a little jealous. Iduno, whatever you want to call it lol.
-My truck IS 4wd
-The noise repetition increases with speed
-It is when my tires are rotating (Not when turning left or right)
-The noise does NOT happen when I push my truck up and down
Bearings maybe?
Thanks for all the quick responses!
I should have time to look into it tomorrow, and probably fix on Thursday or Friday.
(I am on break at work rite now)
