Its most likely the MFS. They are a very common problem. Its what happens when you mix plastic and high mileage together. You can take it apart and touch the contacts and verify that it is the problem

Do you use the tilt wheel? I have had 2 of this style truck. On the first one, I replaced the turn signal stalk. When I did, I broke the clip on the bottom of the harness at the stalk. It's made out of brittle plastic and there isn't much access so it's difficult to replace it without breaking it.

Anyway, it would work with the wheel all the way up, but it would be inconsistent with the wheel down. So I would get out and check it and it worked fine. Then get in a drive and it wouldn't. It took me a little while to figure it out, but it's easily fixed with a little electrical tape.

The same issue was on the next truck I bought. I think the guy must have left the wheel up. Funny thing is, I had forgotten about the issue. I was getting pretty p/o'd about it—it's really annoying how it works in the driveway, but not when driving—then about a week later I realized I knew how to fix it. I was the only one who knew I had forgotten, but still sucks because I knew I was a moron. Anyway, check out the clips on the stalk connection.
