finally true blue is going supercharged

Well guys I purchased a vortech Blower for my truck out of the classified section here last night. Did alot of research and even though it needs a rebuild I read up and people had very high opions of it. Any suggestions on this? I know its stated its for a 5.4 but looking at the way it mounts and reading online it will fit with a little modification. My enigine has low miles and i tore the top end down and its very clean so i think she will hold together. Dose anyone know if i need to get a dyno tune or can i get canned tunes? Just excited and wanted to hear some feed back! Thanks alot guys!

Awesome!!! You don't have to get a Dyno tune but if there are any reputable shops around I would do it. But you can also do email tuning like others do.

There's a fella in the diesel community named Mike Hallas thats local here and dose performance gas mototrs too. I would like to send it to him to maximize what i can get out of it. How much of a difference did your stall converter make? Im thinking a stall converter along with my 4.56 gears should really make ths truck come alive.

A few. Sell it lol. Purchase a 5four since they're so easy to come by and just go with a roots blower set up. You'll save yourself time and money in the long run, since you'll most likley go that route in the future anyway. When the power bug bites that is. Send your PCM out ahead of time to Troyer, so you'll have it once completed. It's going to cost a little more money initially this way, but you'll be MUCH happier with the outcome... Like WOW!

No problem, -In the mean time, keep your eyes peeled for a lightning engine complete as well. They pop up every now and again. Usually pricey, but I've seen a few go for 3 grand in the past. Those are real good finds! I forget what years, but I believe some NA 5fours had forged cranks. Nice to have to.

I love my stall! I think it wakes the truck up and it brings you into boost a little faster too!

I mentioned the gt500 rods because you can get them for relatively cheap instead of buying mahle rods.

Dont you already have a 5.4 block and eaton?

yes i do! thats why i was saying this will give me time to build the S&^t out of it and gather parts little by little. Going to try and get as much out of the 4.6 as i can then when time comes sell the whole set up and put in my 5.4. Id love one day to achive 500 rwhp.... Gotta make up for not having a transfer case with hp! HAHAHA How much did your custom tuning run you? I just emailed troyer to get quotes.Oh and the wife says she wants me to sell the 5.4 set up but i have other plans! Muhahahahahah

if you want ponies find a totalled shelby and pull the DOHC 5.4 and throw in it... there is some major ponies in those bad boys. Ive been looking at them.

ok, i thought you did.

i dont think people realize how much you have to do to get 500rwhp on these motors. if thats what you want, be prepared to drop over 10K to achieve that goal. you,re going to need fully ported heads, cams, built transmission, 9.75 rear end, fuel delivery system, etc, etc....

i already had my sct, so i paid almost $200 for the JLP tunes. i think he offers free custom tunes when you buy a sct tuner from him tho.

let me know when you get a 5.4 I think I'm going to sell my lightning supercharger swap, since I no longer have the lightning engine.

I actually already have a complete swap but theres what we belive to be a broken rod and theres about 80k worth of hard miles put on it. Only paid 1500 bucks for it but this looks like a less expensive route till i can afford to build it and buy a trans & 9.75 rear end. One of these days though! LOL

doubt it, most of the major shops use sct to tune trucks.
