Changing COPs
Changing COPs
I am trying to figure out if it would be worth it to change the cops out on my truck. She is 10 years old and nearing 140000 miles on what i am almost positive are the same coils from the factory. I changed the sparkplugs about 10000 miles ago so I know they are good for awhile. Will it be worth it to chnage the cops out for new visteon cops? thanks guys!
No I am not. However when Im around town and the truck shifts into over drive between 45 and 55 it bogs some. But if I did change would I see a change in mpg or a slight power increase? Also I want to do as much preventative mantinence as possible before school starts.

Mine is a 2000 and I had just slight rough idle and a little stumble. I had thought maybe COPS but decided just to give a real good tune-up and changed the plugs with the Motorcraft ones and ordered all new COP boots. Noticed a major improvement with just changing those two alone. Much smoother idle and no more stumble. COP boots are a cheap item and proved cheap option to check first for me before going with new COPS.. A few of mine had some pretty rough looking contact springs in the boots...
How difficult is the O2 sensor replacement? There's 2 correct? I've heard from some guys that it can be more of a pain than it's worth because by this point, most are pretty rusty and seized and you risk breaking something. Input?
i'm still using one or two oem coils on my truck...275k miles and they last longer than the global's i've bought, same thing with the o2 sensors, i changed them out about 5k miles ago and i can't really tell a difference besides a "smoother" idle
