Changing the o2's is a 2 man job. especially the right side you really need a guy holding the connector up on the top so it can be plugged in. if you do it alone the only way to do it is if you remove the trans dipstick. If money is not tight pay someone to do it. You can order the Motor craft o2's from Rock auto for 40 bucks atleast get them and find someone to put em in if you go that way. that alone will save you quite a bit. Bosch sensors are over 40 bucks at autozone and Bosch is NOT OEM. Cleaning the throttle body and new o2's will make the truck perform better.

oh and do NOT replace the rear o2's they just report cat function. The either work or they dont. The pcm makes adjustment of the readings it gets from the fronts over time they dont work as well and will affect performance. The rears either work or they dont when they dont replace them.

Jethat - you had that much trouble with yours?

All I did was jack up one side of the truck and remove the wheel and used a open end on it after I disconnected it and plug it back in and was done. Had both sides done in about 30 minutes.

The right side on mine is impossible to get 2 hand on the connector. The only way is with a guy holding it on top or removing the trans dipstick. Ii have a 5.4 4x4 so its different then yours. I've seen other guys have the same issue with trucks like mine.

They are tough. I remember hooking mine up during the swap. Connector is tucked tight behind the head in between the firewall. I managed to get my hands in there though and feel around until they lined up, then snapped them together. I remember thinking.. whos idea was it to put the connector here.

I have a 4.6 4x4 and I wasn't able to get 2 hands on the connector at all, I was only able to get one and I know it was a pita to do with one hand, but it wasn't too horrible.

Bosch is NOT OEM.
Motorcraft sensors are made by Bosch.

Not exactly - I remember reading reports here that Bosch sensors work fine in these trucks, unlike Autolite plugs.

I've read guys saying the Motorcraft o2's work better. Motorcraft is built to ford specifications anything else is a gamble. They are $39.95 at rock auto. Why screw around with anything else.
I have bosch in my truck but I got them at autozone 5 years ago. Didnt know about Rock Auto. Next time I get them I will get the Motorcraft.
