How to mount aftermarket seat on stock seat brackets for 97 f150
How to mount aftermarket seat on stock seat brackets for 97 f150
This will enable you to use stock stock seat brackets and seatbelt mount. I decided to go this route because the seat bracket options out there are so confusing about what will or will not fit our f150s. This is a Corbeau Baja RS suspension seat and ,according, to corbeau all Corbeau bottom bolts are the same unless its a side mount seat.

Take the stock seat out by undoing the four nuts under the seat two in front two in back(not all 97-03 f150s have this) The bolts are facing down and the nuts unscrew from the bottom

Once you get your seat out you will have four more bolts to remove. With your seat on its back slide the track all the way up and take the bottom two out with a 10mm

Then slide your seat track down and take the top two out

The seat track will then come completely off and you'll need to push the seatbelt plug through the seat and out(it stays with the seat track).

You can discard the seat or sell your old beaten down seat on craigslist to some sucker for 200 bucks.
See how the bottom of the seat is flat where it mounts to the flat stock bracket?

This is what we use to our advantage. I bought one inch square metal tube and cut two pieces down to 17 inches in length. Here is the seat bracket with slider.

You're two pieces of tube stock will go perpendicular to the stock seat slider
one on the front and one on the back. Then the seat will sit on the tube stock

There are multiple holes to choose from on the corbeau seat. I chose the holes that are about 13 3/4" apart from front of the seat to the back of the seat because thats about the same distance as the stock slider holes that are already there
Drill two 5/16" holes in the tube stock where you will mount it to the seats. Then drill two 1/2'' holes on the other side of the tube stock opposite your 5/16" holes. That way you can put your seat bolts through the tube stock on the side with 1/2" holes but the bolt head is too big to go through the 5/16" holes on the other side.
Heres a pic to help illustrate;

This will also enable you to stick your allen wrench through and tighten the tube stock to the bottom of the seat like so:

Once you get your tube stock secured to your seats(I used locknut washers with the bolts that came with the seats) Its time to mark where the tube stock will mount to the stock slider. To do this you must place the stock slider back in the vehicle and slightly bolt it down otherwise your measurements could be off(the slider gets wiggly)
Before stock slider gets put on

After slider is on

There is a little trick to get the back right bolt to go in. Squeeze here

The other three bolts should slide right in. Then put the nuts on slightly and make sure the slider is in same position on both sides
This is correct

This is incorrect

The difference is on the top pic the slider is on the ninth hole back on both sides and on the bottom pic ones side is and one side it isn't.
Once you get it lined up, set your seat up on it and mark your tube stock were you will drill holes for the front bolts(5/16" holes). Take the seat back out and get ready to drill the holes for the front in the tube stock. I used a pink marker
