Back in the Saddle
Back in the Saddle
Sold my 98 extended cab last summer in order to build a detached garage. I had it for close to 7 years and it was sorely missed. Since then I've searched long and hard for another one, a regular cab this time, and its been difficult to find one that was not abused or one that the seller was not asking an arm and a leg for. Apparently trucks in general command a high price here in the south.
Anyway - I picked up a 2000 regular cab 4x4 off road, 5.4L - one owner last Sunday. I'm not a big fan of white, but this one was in such good shape that I couldn't pass it up. It has the charcoal grey interior, which I really like. the owner was **** about maintenance and had all the receipts/records of maintenance and besides, the paint and body is near flawless.
The only thing I have done since I got it was paint the grille black, which I think looks much better.
With the off-road suspension and the aggessive profile of the tires, she rides like a tank, so I'll have to see if I can soften the ride up a bit - but other than that, she's a keeper.
Since I'm not a big fan of white, I was thinking about having the lower section of the body and the fender flares painted a contrasting color. There is a white SuperCrew at work that has the contrasting gold/tan color. It looks good but I probably need either silver or grey to match the interior somewhat. I've been looking for a similar picture, but so far haven't found one...

If I did that - the wife wouldn't be able to get in!
