Magnaflow 15749

I think I'm going to pick up the 15749 Magnaflow Cat-back system. One thing I forsee as a problem is the stock hitch on my 2003 FX4 Supercab.

It looks like Magnaflow wants you to use one of the bolt holes that the hitch is using to hang the driver side rear tail pipe. Since this hole is being used for the hitch I will have to either tap a new hole or weld a hanger onto the frame.

What would you guys suggest as the best way to set up the rear hangers? I'm in Canada so corrosion is a big issue. Would like to go the way that will lead to the least corrosion (obviously).

Thanks for the help!

George

If you go to magnaflow.com and read the PDF install sheet, it should say something like "fits vehicles with factory hitch & spare tire"

Talked to a guy at Magnaflow and he said that with the stock hitch you will have to either weld or tap a new hole for the hanger.

Anybody installed this with a hitch? What did you do?

I have not run that system but I would just drill a new hole instead of welding. Being that welding would need you to remove a small area of paint, weld it then repaint. Which is permanent.

Thanks Toyz.

Anybody out there install this on a truck with the stock hitch? If you have, do you have any pictures of the rear hangers?

Whats wrong with using the bolt that holds the hitch on?

Will it not still connect to that bolt?

What do you mean? Attaching the hanger to the hitch bolt?
I'm not sure what you mean

Yes, attaching the hanger to the hitch bolt, will it not still work there or does the hitch move it out of place to far?

Well from what I can see on the Magnaflow instructions, the hanger would usually thread into a hole the hitch is using. So since the OEM hitch is installed, that hole has a nut and bolt in it.

Sorry if I am sounding dumb here, how would I attach the hanger to the bolt? Thanks for the help.
