Foglight Mod Problem

You guys probably get people asking questions about the FL mod all the time, but I have researched as much as I can handle tonight. Here we go:

I have recently completed the fog light mod, but something isn't working right. I have a 2000 F-150 Lariat with factory autolamps and factory fogs. I have hids in my headlights and for foglights. I did the mod to the switch so I am able to pull it out in parking light mode and I spliced the brown and black/white wires together (2 & 12). My problem is that when I switch my parking lights on my headlights come on too (bad). When I pull the **** out from parking lights my foglights come on (good) and my headlights stay on (bad). I removed the splice, because I thought that I may have messed up the switch, but all positions function normally like it did before the mod. Any ideas why my headlights come on in PL with the splice in place?*

Thanks, Mike

Be patient, noob. Incorrect answers could come every second, while correct answers may take just a little time. Hang in there. I'm sure that someone will be around that will solve your issue.

Hey.

So - you followed this: http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...s/foglamps.htm

faithfully and stil have that problem?

Quick check - install original halogen bulbs - and the wiring to stock - and re-test. ( You are using relay harnesses, right, so this should be easy to do - if not, that's not helping you at all).

I suspect yer cheap crappola PnP kit(s), as this mod, done properly, works perfectly.

Good luck ( and I agree with Red - instant gratification should not be expected for free help - folks have priorities - thanks in advance ).

I will take the hid relay out and pop in the Silverstars I have laying around for my main headlights. I'll report back after work.

No dice guys. Disconnected all aftermarket lighting and just plugged in regular 9007s. Same result, headlights on in parking lamp mode. Double checked and everything works as normal without the splice. Black/white spliced with brown on the 12 slot plug. Any Ideas?

I don't have this mod, so I can't be of any help to ya. BUT, I've been here long enough to know there are some that can help. In my opinion, put your lights to where they work properly, and await a proper response. Again.. be patient. We all have jobs, family and/or other priorities (as MGD said). I'm confident you will get your answer.

Good luck - after that I dunno...

Had to cut the black/white wire before the splice so that the white/black and brown wires will still connected to the plug. Not sure why I had to do this as it is not Canadian, but a fellow on another forum had the same problem with a US truck and fixed it that way. The instructions on that tutorial are slightly more vague than I would prefer.

Yeah I had the same problem as the OP, which means the wiring instructions on that page are inaccurate. When I find the right info, I'll post it.

Not necessarily some US trucks come with auto headlamps.
