I would rather keep the stick and save for the magnum. I love rowing the gears and don't head to the track but about 3 or 4 times a year.

I know this is an old thread but will the 391-5020 work in the 97-03 F150's? I know the stick is for the Ranger so it won't be the right shape or length.

I had a buddy the made a custom length shifter for a corvette from the stock shifter. He cut it, tapered and chased threads on the shaft.

Short throw shifters are not just a shorter shaft, they also move the pivot point up so even if the shaft was the same length it would be a shorter throw, but yes they do tend to be shorter too.

Cutting the stock one down will help, but not as much.

True, on a truck I'd agree 100%, but on a corvette with a ****er arm thatlike 6" stock, cutting it to 5" makes a big difference for example

Yeah Hurst discontinued the short throw for the F150's a very long time ago but still makes one for the Ranger.

I think the OP used the kit for the Ranger(391-5020) but I'm not sure. Making a new stick won't be a problem if the rest of the kit will fit.
