Need a power source in the engine compartment for angel eyes

I have a 2003 F150 4x4 Supercrew

I just purchased some projector headlights with CCFL Angel Eyes from DashZRacing. They are recommending that I wire the angel eyes to the parking lights but I don't want to have to flip the switch on and off all the time in order to get them to light up. When the truck turns on, I want the Angel Eyes to light up and then turn off when I turn the truck off. I'll probably run a manual override switch to the cab area eventually but for now, I'm just looking for a power source

Is there an easy power source I can get to in the engine compartment area that I could tap which is only active when the truck is on? I'm not super electically inclined so if you have a pic of where the postive/negative wire is that would be even more useful.

thank you

Not sure of a power source for you under the hood, you could always use a relay and tap into the radio signal wire so it'll turn on when the radio does.

On a side note, good luck with those lights. I hope you have better luck with them than everyone else (including me) has.

Could you tell me approximately where the radio wires are in the engine compartment?

On the other note, I didn't know people were having issues with the HID Projector light kits. I did a few searches before I purchased them but I couldn't find anything. May I ask what kind of problems people are having? If it's many people, maybe I'll just return them.

If you wire those to turn on when you start your truck and run until you shut it off, they wont last long at all.
To be honest, well it's just my opinion but those lights do not belong on a truck at all. Makes it look cheap and import. But to each his own.

Do you have daytime running lights? That would be the best power source.

Look for a fuse in the fuse box under the hood that is key on engine on. Use an add a circuit to hook up power

You'd have to go up through the firewall to the dash to get to one most likely.

And yes with Proper Retrofits they don't have problems. However with cheap chinese light's like you bought let the problems begin. I'd return them if you haven't opened them. And order a retrofit kit from theretrofitsource.com and do it right the first time.

Here's some problems you'll have:
First off if you ordered them from that DashZRacing site you paid about 60 or so dollars to much. Ebay has them a little off half that price. Those angel eye's won't last, especially if you run them constant on, they'll burn out quick. If it's the kind with led's on the bottom be prepared for those to start burning out one-by-one too. The projector now, you can't retrofit a hid kit into it, the bulb won't fit. Not only that projector isn't designed for it so the output would look somewhat off. The output from them overall leave's a lot to be desired, when I bought them I was thinking "it has a projector, so it'll put out more light", yea I was wrong. The light output is comparable to halogen bulbs in the stock housings, except the stock setup is almost better.

Now to the best part, fitment. I spent hours trying to get them to line up and fit my truck and they just don't. One hung out around 3/4" and the other side would just wiggle around while driving.

The kit came with HIDs so they should be plenty bright. I'll post some pictures of the kit tonight both front and back. I'll need to find a place to mount the ballast too.

I'll look in the fuse box and see if I can find a free circuit to use as b2therad mentioned and pick up a in-line fuse otherwise, I'll just wire everything to the parking lights. I purchased a 1 year warranty on the kit from dashzracing so I plan to use the crap out of the lights and see how they hold up.

Since I can't find any install guides, I'll take some pictures along the way.

Install guide for what? Installing isn't hard it can be knocked out in like an hour or so probably why there's no guide. All you need is some t-taps to splice into the parking lights if you decide to go that route, otherwise an add-a-fuse like brad said and just run the power wire off that with like a 5 or so amp fuse.
