Thanks for all the help you bunch of gear heads
thanks for all the help on passing on info on how to change out a fuel pump to a dumbass... I can just about repair anything in your house.. from stoves to dishwashers... washer and dryer.... paint inside and out.. i use to have my own home maintenance business, but I never would learn on car or trucks. Dont get me wrong.. with my mechanical background... i can do the little things such as gas filters... water pumps... power steering pumps...look.. i guess i could go on for a while.. but to sum it all up.. im no damn mechanic when it comes to working on cars and trucks... period. anyways... the advice that yall gave me (that would be a southern draw on that yall part!!) was good enough to help me fix my problem. it was the fuel pump... i also changed out the fuel filter. since then, the truck is running fine. starts with every crank and recrank. thanks guys for all the advice. Im sure I'll be on here a few more times asking what seems like to you guys are dumb questions.. but to me... they will be very serious. Thanks to everyone who answered my question and replied to my questions. You guys aretruly "live savers" or should i say truck savers to all us that dont know a whole lot about what makes these things tick. Im learning.. but i promise... i'll have plenty of questions to follow. Dont worry fellows. But once again... a big "THANK YOU!!!!!" to all that answered me. You guys know your stuff and i am one guy who will nee yall im sure in the near future. you guys are the greatest.

You forgot the part about saving money.. fuel pump and filter replacement at a dealer would run around $500+
Good to see you got it done. A few more and you could probably swing one out on the road side in 20 minutes

well.. i have no idea of how much i saved but i will say this.. thanks to all the people who gave me info on what to do. I did opt to drop the tank instead of taking off the bed though.. i looked at it several times.. and tried a couple of the bed bolts and they were hard as hell to brake lose. In fact.. I didnt break a one lose... so the more i stared at the tank... the easier it looked.. and in fact..it wasnt bad at all. a friend of mine told me that it just about wasnt possible to take the tank.. that the bed was the way to go... well.. maybe for him.. but not for me.. take wasnt bad at all.. and it had almost have a tank. have great day guys... and ladies as well.
I would drop the tank. Cant lift the bed I can lift the tank. Actually when i changed the pump in my POS GMC van I used my transmission jack worked great. I've never had to do the pumnp in my truck. I change the filter every year so hopefully it will last forever.
Maybe if you have access to a body lift I could see it otherwise its not practical..
Going to see how easy that is, - pulling my bed off in a few, - with a chain-fall. Wonder how many bolts I'll break lol.

You got the compressor and impact tools to get those pesky bolts out! Might want to start soaking them with Deep Creep or PB Blaster now!
