Doesn't anyone even try to do a decent job anymore? It's just like they don't give a damn.

Something to keep in mind is that the insurance company may have told the shop what to do. Last year I hit a deer with my mom's '07 Mailbu; dented the bumper, driver's fender and busted up the driver's headlight. Took it to a shop that we chose, and the first go around they pushed the dent out of the bumper, filled it with bondo and did the same with the fender. The only new part was the headlight. The work looked horrible and the bumper was very obviously repaired. My dad complained to the shop and they said that they wanted to put on new parts but the insurance company said to fix what was on the car. He complained to the insurance and they eventually gave in and new parts were put on.

Everyone's always very quick to place all the blame on the shop when sometimes their hands are tied.

I camt believe the insurance would put on the wrong tire the cost difference is small.. The Shop is in competant. Thats all there is to it. Sure the insurance company is looking out for themselves thats why taking the truck to there shop was stupid.. Guy has cars flying through. does em cheap to keep the insurance companies happy..

There is a relationship between the insurance company and the shop at some discount to the insurance company for the reference.

Typically from what I have seen in dealing with the other persons at fault insurance is they will have you meet them at a certain area so they can go over the vehicle and estimate the damage. This happened to our car last year that was hit by someone in the grocery parking lot. I did the walk around with the agent as he was writing things down and I made sure to point out things that weren't so obvious and caused by the same damage.
We took that information to the shop of our liking (turned down the offer from them to use "their qualified shop") and went and got our own estimate. Which has to match what their estimate was (otherwise there is a long process if it is higher than their adjustment), and it did.

Did you do a walk around with the insurance before it went to a shop? Or was it just a drop off and leave kinda thing.

I talked to an adjustor they sent out and did what you say show and tell told him what I expected. The only thing I felt I asked of the insurance company that could be questionable at all was I wanted an alignment and thats not a big deal. 60 bucks and considering the type of damage done it was not outrageous The rest of the damage is/was obvious and all. My truck Was hit head on by an Excursion. If I had not bee driving safe like I was the would be paying for me and my wifes funeral.
They need to fix the scratches align my truck and give me the correct tire.

You need 4 new tires IMO. Unless you had just put new ones on. Tires should have equal ware all around or you could have problems.

I tried to get them to do 2 and they would not. I'm gonna replace 1 myself and put the new ones in back and finish off the 2 old ones up front.

It wasnt his company? As far as I know, it was the other persons at fault.

That's the muck about dealing with other peoples insurance. But, there are laws that require them to return the truck back to it's original condition. In which this case, it wasn't.

I picked a shop that had lifetime warranty on all the work I have done. Ive had to go back a couple times due to crappy work and get new parts for free.

Jethat, I would advise against installing the new tires in the back. Whenever replacing less than all 4 tires you should always put the newest tires in the front for highest safety, especially in anything less than optimal driving conditions. I didn't listen to that advice when I was younger and wound up upside down when the car I was driving hydroplaned and spun, the rear tires never lost traction but the front just slung around until the car left the road.

My thinking is the tire will wear out faster up front and its not like there unsafe. I think they have another year left in them more or less.
Clearly the lesson is to not allow any insurance company to pick the shop. I should have made the effort to find a shop and all that. The insurance company sent an adjustor all i had to do was pick some one to do it. They offered there shop and I didn't care. Should have. Years ago I got in a wreck in one of my vans. The shop I hired while it was there I asked them how much to paint the whole Van? they said $150. They wanted the insurance job and so they did nice things for me to get it. When I turned it over to the insurance companies shop I gave up my power as the customer. The insurance companie becamee the customer and the shop has no interest in makeing me happy unless I make the insurance company miserable (I think I was able to do that)
It easier if you pick your own shop. Not like the insurance company isnt paying them. I have the bill for the damage. It was around $2600

I am with you on the insurance deal, I have been in a couple of situations where I needed an insurance company to foot the bill and like you the first time I let them pick the shop, big mistake. Since then I have had them send me a check and had the work done at my preferred shop. You get much better results because they know that if they do a good job you will be back, the insurance companies shop don't care because they know you will not be back to their shop, especially if it is one that does insurance work almost exclusively.

I understand that, here in Ontario. You have the say where to take your vehicle. I have always taken it to a dealer.
