Hello all,

So what I am dealing with at the moment is a flashing battery light.

Some background; I changed my plugs a couple of days ago, and that went pretty smoothly and I had some great weather for that job. A day or so after that i noticed my battery light flash a couple of times and then go off while i was driving down the road, this concerned me and the next morning i gave a quick look and saw nothing obvious, so i thought nothing of it since the light did not stay on. Well tonight it happened again, this time under hard acceleration. (the first time may have been under moderate acceleration i cant remember) I tried to duplicate the situation, but was unable to make the light come on again.

My battery is not quite a year old, and from what i can tell the alternator doesn't have a loose connection. All of the battery cables and the smaller accessory wires hooked to the battery have been replaced within the last year or so.

My question is what should i be looking for? A lose connection? An alternator starting to crap out? All of my gauges are fine and my lights/ stereo are acting normal.

The brushes on the alternator are worn out. Order a new/rebuilt one now and replace soon, you don't have much time.

It could be the alternator, but I'd check the voltage regulator first.

 

Possibly the alternator, but I would double check the alternator wires first.

 

I'd check the fuse. The mini fuse hanging on the harness plug cradle, - by the 175's.

It doesn't usually blow, but worth checking. Battery light illumination is almost always a bad alternator.

 

Mine did the same thing and it was the alternator.
