Child Seat Anchors

I'm writing this because I took a lot of time and research to find these Child Seat Anchors for my 2002 SCREW... I'm not 100% sure but from what I've been reading it looks like as of June 2002 Child Seat Anchors have been mandatory in all vehicles. My truck was unfortunately built before that date. Ford had them as an after market OEM install but they are recently discontinued. These are the Ford OEM Part numbers for a 2002 SCREW 60/40 rear bench seat. You can as I did a Google search for them and you will find a few places that have them. I bought each one from separate places because one place did not have both parts in stock.

3L3Z16601B28AA is for the 40% seat - About $60

3L3Z16601B29AA is for the 60% seat - About $50

Don't be confused with tethers that are straps attached to the back of the seats. My truck did come with tethers. These are the anchors that hide where the seat bottom and seat back meet. They are little anchors that are usually made of round bar and allow a child seat to anchor much more securely rather than using a seat belt. Just FYI.. If you are like me and have to have these child seat anchors rather than using the seat belt which never seems to hold my child seat in without it moving all over the place. The install was quite simple but warning you will have to do some minor modifying. I used a dremil with a metal cutting wheel and shaved off just a small amount of metal for proper clearance. Without notching out the metal bracket from the seat not the anchor you will NOT be able to put the seat in it's normal up right locked position. I did the install with the seat still in the truck. It was a little bit of a PIA but really wasn't that bad. It took 15 minutes. Like I said I am only writing this because I could have used this info. I did not install the 60% seat bracket anchor as of yet due to the no need factor. My son is 13 months old and he is my only child. I have the other bracket for the larger seat just in case I will need it in the future. Hit me up with a PM or write back here if anyone is interested in pictures. I'm sure I could easily snap a few and add them here.

If I posted this in the wrong section I appologize...

i'd like to see some pictures. i wondering if they make anything for the scab. i also like the seat anchors better than the seat belts. i actually swapped out seats on my old jeep from a newer jeep so i was able to use the anchors.

You would have to do some research on a scab. I only looked up my truck but I will take a few quick pictures with my iPhone to give you an idea of what it looks like. I'll have them up in a few hours...

This is the bracket for the 60% back seat.
Part Number : 3L3Z16601B29AA

Here is the 40% seat with the bracket already installed.
Part Number : 3L3Z16601B28AA

In this picture you can see just to the left of the bracket where I had to notch out a little metal from the seat. I had to do the same for the other side but the picture didn't come out good.

Hope this helps...
