I am going to be regearing my truck soon and putting bigger tires on. I have no experience with gears and need some suggestions on which ones to get! From what i have seen so far, i am thinking about the G2 4.56s and the Procomp speedo/odometer corrector from 4wheelparts. I don't know much about G2 if anyone can fill me in on experience with them.

What is a reasonable labor cost?

Also i'm looking at the 345/75/16 BFG KM2s (aprox. 36.3") good/bad tire? Friends have run them and seem to like them alot.

I have the v6 model f150(the f150 smartcar..), so that's why the regear is a definite!

Any advice/input would be appreciated.

 

Great tires, but I'd almost recommend 4.88's with a tire that size. Especially since it'll be a v6 trying to turn them.

 

Was kinda thinking the same, can't really decide. -.- Guess we can see if anyone else votes in favor of 4.88s or the 4.56s. lol

 

4.88s for sure. I'm planning on 4.88's in my truck with 35s and the 5.4l for when i do step up to a bigger tire. Even though slightly bigger than a 35, your v6 lacks the power the 5.4 has so you will definitely need the 4.88s.

 

what type of gears/labor cost you guys looking at??

If there really a difference in gears? i know some are made cheap, but other than that, is it just the name of the company that people prefer??

 

Umm 2wd cost including gears is usually 500-800. 4x4 cost including gears is usually 1400+.

 

800ish is what i have heard around here. i know my mechanic pretty well, and i will probably supply the gears, so that all might be lowered ha
