Just for some info- We have a 2003 F-350 ambulance with heated mirrors. There are no buttons or anything for it in the cab, they come on automatically. It'll be 100*+ outside and you can feel the heaters behind the glass come on. But thats a Superduty and I'm not sure if its related.

As far as heat was concerned, I thought about just running a toggle switch that I could flip on and off when need be. I'm not an electrician, so I thought that would be easy, haha.
I was able to work on mine this past weekend. If your mirrors are from a donor expy that has memory then you will end up with four wire on each mirror that will not be needed. I was able to problem solve the wires using a scavenged directional control switch and a battery charger. Jimfor put me on to some wiring diagrams from Autozone. (thanks again Jim) I will try and get some pics of mine up ASAP and maybe it will help to see what goes where.

That would be great! I never thought of the battery charger trick, that's a smart idea. I'm hoping I can get some done next week when I'm back from vacation.

XC,
Sorry it has taken me so long to up load these two pics! Basically what you will need to do is get the wiring diagrams for your model of truck and for the model of the donor. From that you can come really close to narrowing down the motor wires. You are going to need a directional switch. I labeled all of mine with blue painters tape so that I could write on the tape easily. Likely hood is that you will find some wires that are not the color indicated on the wiring diagrams but maybe you will be lucky.
Try doing one mirror first and the second will be a lot easier. Once you know the motor wires then just wire the heated part as posted Jimfor. I am still going to try and detail this mod as I go. Just been crazy busy at work and now I am at the beach on vacation with the wife and kids. (having a blast).

Good luck,

Glad you're having fun! I've been having trouble finding the wire diagrams, or else I'd probably have this done already. I did look at the autozone schematics, that helped some. I'm slowly finding more and more information. I'm like you though, been really busy at work and my weekends usually consist of going somewhere or racing.
