Okay glc... I'm going to call you out on this one... What is your basis on this??

I use a K&N drop in and don't have to clean the MAF frequently.. In fact, I've never had to clean it...

I maintain my K&N and by that I don't over clean it and I don't over oil it..

Say what you want about it, but I've had it for 10 years now and it's not caused any of the issues that get spread around here... I've been reading about them for the last 10 years too!

I have over 231,000 miles on my truck and tow a #5000 TT several thousand miles a year with it since 2002..

To keep this on topic, to the OP... I have RP in my diffs and they still turn! So I think it's an okay product... No mpg gains that I can tell..

Mitch

I'm with you on the K&N drop in. I put 135,000 on my 2005 with one and never had a problem. I oiled it lightly as they said. It works just fine. I cleaned my MAF every 20,000 to 30,000 just for grins as part of regular maintenance.

you are more man than me...that cuts too deep into my drinking time....

on a more serious note, KN says 50 or 60 k miles and recharge. If you clean your MAF 10k after your last recharge.......

you theoretically shouldn't see any issues....unless you dip it in oil...out back by ma's barn burning barrel... bang! lol I been waiting to use that deer thing...lol

I cleaned the K&N and the MAF at the same time, every 20,000 to 30,000. Too many leaves and bugs(for my liking) in the filter to go as long as they recommended. Took me about 30 minutes to do both, every 9 months or so. Plus, I could drink a beer while doing the process.

straight jacket wiggle....try n 2 get free....

So I pulled the air intake out and cleaned the MAF... found the rubber gasket on my filter was no longer sticky.... dug around and rtv'ed it back on and centered it....then sprayed the MAF a dozen times with a rag behind it to catch the overspray....

reconnected the battery and she wanted to peel the tires off pulling out the driveway.....

but I am currently sitting at 112miles and it is 1/4 tank over half..... before the plug change, filter change, throttle clean, earl change and all the other crap I done, I am missing about 50miles on this tank too....

so I am going to look for that techron stuff.....try that. Then I am going to pull all the throttle hoses and reconect'em, and maybe some COP pulling and retork the plugs.... maybe pull the wheels and check the brakes for SnG....

Could a wheel bearing cause this? It feels like it could roll forever... but there is a hummer in the passenger front at start up off the line if I am turning left.... it is usually quick like..... and then it is quiet and fine...

then there is the od problem I think I have.... is there a clip or pin or belt that could bind.....when OD kicks in she feels like we are pulling something...but not EVERY time...it is hit/miss like blackjack or the craps table..... I think there are multiple problems I am trying to crack......

Maybe I like the RP too much and have been in her too deep watch'n the needle go down...... I am going to start grocery getting for a bit the next tank....

tanks for your direction

Humbled Du Mas!

BLUE!!

I figured out what was wrong with my mileage....

Apparently my tank hasn't been getting "full". I used the grocery store coupon for less $ spent on the pump... they give you a card and the more groceries you get the more $ at the pump you save.... I saved like +.50/gal so why not right....well it only goes to 20gal/visit.

The pump stops and the tank isn't quite full.... I only noticed it because I ran her real low cause it was over 4 a gal at the time; it went down a bit and I knew the wife hit the store......

well you get the picture I hope... I wasn't paying attention cause I was saving $ at the pump.... go figure.... I ran the tank lower than usual and found the problem... It was one long trip that did it.

thanks for your knowledge sharing!

update:
RP still looks clean @ 5000 miles!

cheers
