2002 f150 7700?

I was just surfing craigslist and came across a f150 7700 with the 7 lug wheels heavy duty suspension etc. Is this right? i thought all 7 lugs would have been the f250.

Yeah, it's right. At some point they were referred to as the F250 LD(light duty), but they are the same thing.

yep, i had the 2000 F150 7700. Ford did some crazy thing here, they had the F150-7700 "heavy half" then the F250 light duty (looks identical except the sticker on the fender) and then of course the 250 superduty. My company had all of the above. funny thing is the F150 7700 series had a bigger payload and towing ability than the 250 light duty did. had to prove that one to the company so we could tow certian trailers.

This body style debuted in '96 as a '97 model. As such, all F-150s sold were this body style. For whatever reason, Ford wanted an F-250 in this style too; enter the 7700 series. For the '97-'98 model years, the F-250LD was the NBS and 7-lug rims with heavy duty suspension. The F-250HD and F-350 were still the 92-96 style. When the Super Duty arrived in MY99, the F-250LD was dropped, F-250 and 350 moved to the SD line and the F-250LD became the F-150 7700 series.

There used to be a website devoted to the 7700 series but I can't find it at the moment. I believe it was only available in regular cab, long box in 4x2 or 4x4 and extended cab, short box 4x4 only (I think). Extended cab, long box was not available.

Bi-fuel (LPG or CNG) was also an option on 7700's.

BTW, 7700's also came in 4x2 extended cab, short bed ...

The 97-98 F250 LD also had the 4.6 as an engine option but the 99+ 7700 trucks were 5.4 only.

So if you see a 97-98 make sure its got the engine you want.

That is a deal worth looking into. The 7700 is a great F150.

That is, until you look at the wheels.

The wheels are ugly. And aftermarket 7x135 rims are difficult to find/expensive, so I've gathered.

I have a 2000 F150 4x4 7700 truck with a 4.6 or are you just referring to the F250's?
