No park lights

2000 F150 Flareside. Brake lights, head lights, turn signals both front and rear work fine but the rear park/running lights do not?

Also lights seem brighter then normal when brakes applied. Another thing I noticed when the door is open usually only the right part of the 3rd brake light illumates (the bed light) but now both right and left illuminate.

Any ideas??

Did you check the bulb connector for power ?
- This would be the brown wire in the connector, and check using both the ground on the bulb connector and a different known good ground like the trailer tow adapter ( if you know that works correctly ).
Check with a meter, so you know if there is any delta to the battery voltage.

If you have power at the connector, change your bulbs.

if you do not have power, is it with both grounds ?

Does this mean you used a meter to test for power at the bulb connector, and there was none ?

No I didn't use a meter to test for power at the bulb connector. My lights work fine when you hit the brakes, or put the truck in reverse.

But at night, my running or 'park' lights don't come on. If it was the bulb connector they wouldn't work when applying the brakes, so I'm thinking it's a ground?

There are three wires, a low (running), high (stop), and ground. It is possible that the running lights wire has a problem.

A DMM is the only surefire way to 100% rule out something. Don't rely on your eye or guessing.

Look up the thread :

This will give you the next step. right now you are guessing by removing and replacing things without testing, and making assumptions after doing the R&R.
