Embarrassed..

I had my truck parked out on the ice yesterday, while fishing with a few buddies. (who all drive chevys) They thought it was pretty comical when I came back to a nice shiny ford truck..with a dead starter. This was the first and only time my truck will be towed by a chevy, but they made sure to rub salt in the wound by taking plenty of pictures, and driving behind us with their light bars flashing all through town. Sigh

It happens. Still looks better, even in the back hooked to a rope. These starters hardly go out. Bad luck.

I'm pretty sure somewhere around 6 inches is considered safe, but I wait until there's 8 or 10 just to be on the safe side.

It's ok. You'll just have to take pics of all the times you'll tow them out from here on out and post them all over the chevy forums!!

Thanks! I've been wanting to drive on the ice but have been too nervous.

Don't worry I got back at them this last summer for you. I was at a Music Festival camping and it was raining pretty bad that week so the place turned into a mud pit. Well a New chevy got stuck pulling a travel trailer and ask for assitance. I advised I had a 4 wheel drive truck and would help. So I went and got my truck and backed up to him. Hooked up and spun my tires. They all laughed and said a ford can't do help and said to go get a real truck to help. I stated let me reposition and try again first. Well all their mouths dropped when I pulled the truck and trailer all the way to their camping spot. They could not believe it. I just laughed and drove away. They said I could come back and they would pay me back with beer. Wish I had video or a picture of it, it was sweet. And to top it off the trailer was a min. of 25'.

I've always found a Chevy or Dodge owner to be the most active in ridiculing a Ford guy when he breaks down. I attribute this to being caused by them always being the receiver of such ridicule, and when they have the rare chance to give it back, it causes most to do so in extreme style, ex.: flashing lights going back into town, taking pictures, etc, etc... Sort of like them saying to the world, "look, a Ford actually does break down!!)

For me, when one of my friends breaks down in their Chevy or Dodge and I help them out, I never whip out the camera and such. Why bother? Stuff breaks, so what.... I'm secure in my position of owning a Ford..

Well said. Unless you can afford to buy brand new every few years, then eventually something is going to break. My truck is 14 years old now with 131,000 miles, i expect stuff like that to happen every now and then.
