Don't feel bad. I see the frame on that red chevy already buckling under stress.

As a life-long Ice fisherman in Minnesota, here is a guide most consider safe:

2" or less - Stay off
4" - Snowmobile (although I break this rule all the time!)
10" - Truck
12" - 15" - 3 or 4 trucks parked in a grouping or near each other

Most of the problems I have seen is when too many trucks are parked together, or an area of the lake is open water and people drive right into it. Know the conditions before you drive somewhere new!

Sorry to highjack thread, but this year has set a record for vehicles on the bottom! Stay Safe!!

Thanks for the clarification! I'd rather have a dead starter than my ford be at the bottem of the lake!

Anybody think my starter might have quit due to how close it sits to my passenger side header?

Maybe - you may want to rig up some sort of heat shield.

Nice little story to make my night, haha! That's okay, whenever I literally put mine into the trees Shaws Towing sent me a nice little Chevy tow truck to pull me outta the woods.

Don't worry, one day you'll be pulling that Chevrolet.
