Intake leaking???
That's what I dont understand... The cost of replacing the intake should match the cost of replacing gaskets plus the cost of the intake... so $750, not $1200.
B/c the only thing different is they put a new one on instead of putting the old one back on.
So I just dont understand where they are getting another $500 out of it in labor.

I paid about 80$ for motorcraft gaskets (2 lower and the one upper) and replaced them myself in about 4 hours. Im not a mechanic and it was a learning experience but very straight forward. Just did it the other day and was the first time i had taken the head off of any vehicle...again, cost me 80ish bucks. I have a '97 and my plastic manifold looked to have stress fractures on it so i may be doing again soon...Replace the gaskets urself trust me you can do it.
Rockauto has the dorman intake manifold at $186 and that includes all the gaskets. So I don't know how their quote went up that high for the intake and gasket replacement vs the gasket replacement. Should not be any extra time. It is 2 less surfaces to clean and prep for new gaskets. So if anything, it should be a bit quicker.
That's exactly what I thought Toyz...
I called and asked them to Fax me a detailed list of parts, prices, hours ect... this morning
Fax machine hasn't made a sound all day so........

i went though this myself..funny thing is i bought my gaskets at the ford dealership for 60 bux vs advanced wanted 110.00. i was shocked...my total cost was about 300.00 took 3 hours to do...i replaced my injectors, cop, serp. belt, plugs and oil change at that time..so much easier off the truck..
