Steering Wheel cover

So my steering wheel has been loosing the outer layer of grey that it is covered with. Its turning black where i am touching it all the time and now when i turn or rub the wheel it is coming off like dirt. I kno from my girlfreinds old buick that soon im gunna see the metal wheel inside. Is there anything i can do other then a new wheel? what is everyone else doing, i cant have the only old steering wheel lol

Ill put up a pic later when i have a better cam(doesnt show up wit phone)

Can throw a cover on it... That's what I am going to do. Mine is doing the same thing. Will get a nice leather one, not one of the cheesy ones.

I've installed several WheelSkins on mys SHOs and on my Conturd and think they're great.

Order from someone who will send you an extra set of the thread and needle and do a baseball stitch. It will take a while at the beginning (and you'd better be wearing gloves!), but it turns out great!

I need to install one on my F250 this spring.

Those look pretty cool, and the price aint bad. Does it come with the thread and needle? i just ordered the color samples from the website i think i might go with the grey and black two tone, just gotta see witch one matches best.

Now, has anyone removed the steering wheel to install? seems like i would get a much better stich and i dont think the wheel is to hard to remove(but i have been wrong before)

They do come with the thread and needle. It may not hurt to get an extra length of thread as well. It definately takes some patience to install and it really is easier to do with the wheel attached believe it or not. It takes some effort to keep the thread pulled nice and tight so the cover stays flush on the wheel. The directions show you how the lace it and make dummy stiching. Took me over an hour to do mine, getting the stitches straight and making sure everything was pulled tight.

I considered a Wheelskin, but thought it might look strange w/ a rubber wheel...
