2002 F-150 4.2 L engine. Trying to locate the coolant temp sensor. I believe it is under the intake manifold, but not sure.

Has anyone changed one of these and if so can you provide some guidance.

The diagram below is for a '99. #7 is listed as "Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor". #21 is listed as "Water Temperature Indicator Sender Unit".

Your '02 may be different, as the '99 and '02 have different manifolds.
