Anyone here remove their door molding? Just want to see what it looks like before i decide.. If you did, can you post a pic? How did you remove them?

I tried to search, didn't turn up much...

Thanks!

Its been done before, don't think anybody has done a write up or anything, but like machspd said, its basically just a heat gun and 3M adhesive remover.

I got halfway through doing my truck before I noticed what seemed to be a "heavy" spot of clearcoat in a few areas that was flaking off (it's hard to explain). This hasn't been common, but it did prevent me from finishing. I can tell you that you WILL need heat, fishing line, and some good adhesive remover / goo off. I sat there and rubbed quite a bit to get all the adhesive off.

The result would have been great - they really look nice w/out the moldings. Just do a search and it should pull up a few threads. Good luck and post pics

i took mine off. i used a blow drier and just peeled it off. then i got some goo gone and took off the adhesive. then i washed the area and then went over the area with my buffer to get the dirt that was in there. it was sort of stained with dirt from where it wasnt cleaned good enough, but not anymore.

Been thinking of doing it myself but, it seems everytime I decide to do it I notice that if it wasn't for the molding I would have another door dinger from somebody not paying attention getting out of their vehicle whenever I'm in a parking lot..

My whole family bellyaches and whines when we all go somewhere and I park way out in the parking lot, just for that reason of staying away from all the whiskey dents and door dings..They just don't understand....

So drop them off at the front door then go park in the boonies. Don't make them ALL walk.

My wife used to complain about my parking in the boonies, until she got a ding in her new car. Now we just take the long stroll together

You obviously don't know how to keep peace in your family. Sometimes doing the considerate little things makes everything so much easier and peaceful.

I have them and I STILL get door dings.. i just figured, if they are going to ding it, might as well take them off and have a little cleaner look.. minus the dings and nicks of course...
