99 F150 Strange KEY issues...

OK, I just got this thing and now I am having an issue with the keys. There is an original Ford key and a copy key.

The ford key will unlock the door but will not turn the ignition. I have gotten it to work like once.

The copy key will not unlock the doors but WILL turn the ignition with ease.

I dont want to carry 2 keys with me

My lock actuators are acting up so I cannot rely on the key fob to unlock the doors for me. Whats up with this?

Well I decided to actually compare the keys... They are actually different. So somewhere along the line the ignition has been replaced. Not sure how I got the oem key to work that one time. Why would they replace the ignition? Vin never shows it was stolen... What are my options? I don't want 2 different keys. Can they change the ignition tumblers somehow to match the own key?

Yes, the ignition cylinder can be re-keyed. Any locksmith can do it.

Just watch out for possible PATS problems....

Got the ignition cut to match the door key. All works great now. But now I only have 1 key. How much does it cost to get another key to match this Ford one? Do they have to be programmed?
