new to the site. just wanted to know if any of you guys have any say on tire sizes that would fit a 2001 supercrew 2wd. I have a 2inch leveling spacer and currently have 255/70r16. any thoughts on how big i can go tire wise without any lift?

 

33x12.50 max on the right size wheel preferably like a 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing, but you still might have a little rubbing then.

 

thanks so 285 or 33 would work. maybe a little trimming?

A 285 will fit perfect. A 305 will rub slightly at full lock on the sway bar and maybe the valance while turning.

 

make sure to raise the back for 33's you will need the lift. adding a 2'' spacer is not leveled get that *** up

 

anyways u wont be fitting 33's even in the front with out it being stuffed and rubbing. so id suggest more lift or a smaller tire

 

it being a 2wd the back end sits 2in higher then the front, at least mine did, and I had a 2 inch spacer in the front, and both ends cleared 33s no problem no need to lift the back end unless your leafs are saggin

 

I dont know why yours did. Maybe there was a inch or 2 block back there. On stock 2wd its pretty level and even the stock tires are stuffed. never mind fitting 33's. I could not even fit 33's with a 3'' body lift on mine. with out it being stuffed and rubbing. hes only doing 2".. no way imo

 

My 2wd was also about 2" higher in the back stock. Might be one of the differences between an xl and xlt truck.

As for your tires not fitting after a body lift, your springs must have been totally shot and sagging beyond all get out. I was able to fit 33's on my truck just fine. Even before a leveling kit.

my springs were fine. I could of definitely been fine with 33's after the bl with some trimming and that stuffed look (which i did not want) so i kept the stockers on. So you did not have to trim anything on yours? or your front valance was still off at that time? cuz the trimming would be the lower corner of the valance.

 

285/70/17s have been worn by a number of users on this forum with just a 2" level. I'd say you should be able to run that size tire just fine. Heck, my boss runs that on his stock-height 2001 Chevy, which sits lower than our fords do stock. He barely rubs at full lock. If you get the BFG A/T KO's or M/T's, you might have a small rubbing issue since those seem to be a little bit bigger than most other tires of the same size, but then again, several users here have used that size on their 2wd leveled trucks. Thejake1989 is one of them, if you want to check out his build. Just pay attention to the part before he installed the 6" lift and 35s.

 

And yeah, regardless of trim, our trucks have a 2" rake, give or take a few fractions of an inch.

 

I ran 305/70/16 Pro comp A/t's on factory wheels and stock suspension and had to do no trimming whatsoever. It only rubbed on the sway bar at full lock and that was it. With a level I ran 285/75/16 M/t's on 16x10 wheels with 4.5" Bs and had no rubbing period. The only reason the valance was taken off was because the truck looked better without it. From the front it looked like it had a body kit on it. And no I didn't even have to trim the corner of it off to avoid rubbing. Was it cramped and stuffed looking? Knowing what I know now, yes. But was I able to run them without any problems? Of course!
