Angry Blew a spark plug out!

I just joined the not so elite group of blowing a spark plug out! What sucked is I was in the woods on an elk hunt. At first I thought I could fix it until I found the threads were stripped. After getting it out of the woods I called a shop and told him what happened he said "so what kinda Ford do you have?" Hmmmm do you think there is a problem Ford????? Should get it back tomorrow....hopefully wont break the bank.

4. Q: Will a wiretype(Helicoil)insert work?
A: NO!!!! The tip on the end of the wire insert is designed to breakoff after installation. The tip can lodge itself next to the piston rings and destroy the cylinder wall. We have also seen the wire insert melt down and then start leaking. There is also no reliable way for the seating surface of the spark plug to seal against the cylinder head.

Helicoil will blow out again, just a question of when. The timesert is permanent.

Very good point on the tip breaking off. Been a long time since I've used them that I had forgotten about that. Now a helicoil can be very strong and permanent also just as shown not good for spark plug use. I'll admit when I'm wrong lol

Can't wait to see what you paid and what they used for the repair!! Hopefully not a heli coil. As stated, they DO NOT last (in spark plug applications) regardless of any hype you may read. Please let us know...supposedly there's a guy on the forums here that runs a TimeSert repair/rental business and does a good job taking care of the D-I-Y type members.
