Just bought a New to me 1999 F150, 5.4 litre 4 wheel drive with 70k miles on her--looks like I'm going to like the new wheels. Other than driving around with a nice smile on my face, I thought the next thing to do would be of course, join a forum and see what new things needed to be learned. I'm a newby and know how that goes. Have been on many different car forums over the years and look foward to finding out the in's and out's of my F150.
Congrats and welcome! You've found one of the best sites for our trucks. Tons of information, sometimes too much! There are several members here who know these things inside and out, and will be glad to help if you give good information and have an open mind. Good luck with your truck, and have a good time here!

Welcome.
That's the best year 4x4 if you ask me. First year of the PI heads and still used the aluminum manifold. First year of the redesigned front grill/bumper and some other miscellaneous changes. Great miles. If you don't mind, how much did you pay for it?

Thanks for the warm welcome, looks like I picked the right place to be. On the truck--paid 8500 for the ride and had been looking for over a year for the right one to come along.
Main thing was a truck to pull our pop up camper, this trucks gonna pull that camper, I can tell. I had the dealership change out the plugs before taking ownership--I had checked into the problems of these engines loosing spark plugs--thought that would be a good thing to have--I usally do everything myself--I restored a 66 galaxie 7 litre with a 427 side oiler and kept that ride for over 30 years until letting it go to a gent up North with a collection of Fords.. So it sorta goes that there might be some Ford in my blood--Oh yeah--I was raised in a little town of Stuart Va--there was a little bit of racing happening there as I grew up also, a whole lot of Daytona 500 wins were brought back to that little town . I'm pushing 60 now and don't push the pedal as hard as when younger--but I DO LIKE THE WAY THIS TRUCK GETS A GOING--sorry for the caps there , don't know what got into me.
Thanks again everyone.

Forgot to mention this--after joining here I started using the search engine and found why my turn signals don't work with the steering wheel lowered--thats going to be my first repair job planned for this Saturday--
To the poster Toyz--you mentioned that this model year was the first to use the PI heads--hmmm--might you have some info for cheap HP to be gained by turning a few bolts with wrenches?

The wife and I were partying with some new freinds a couple of months ago and had been out earlier in the day looking at a 95 with 80k miles for about the same money--we turned it down because of a 3 inch lifet had been installed. The new freind turned out to be a new manager at the Ford dealership,, he got me a pretty good deal I think.
