Paint Flaking off around the Dash Area?
Add me to the list. It's not bad, but has flaked off in a few spots on the passenger side. I started using one of those foil sunblock things you put on the inside of your windshield when parked. Hopefully that will help protect the interior.

After:

Had to paint the door panel inserts to match:

Then later had to add an expulsion console and paint it as well:
Before...can't see any pics here, I think I took this before the peeling started actually back when I first bought the truck.

I know that this is an old thread, but it covers a subject that many people seem to have and I have two questions.
1. If your paint is chipping, flaking and/or peeling off, what good does it do to paint over it? Won't the old paint under the new paint still be subject to come off?
2. My interior is grey and the paint is chipping and flaking off, with the black plastic showing from underneath the paint, I want it black anyway. Is there any way to safely remove the grey paint without damaging the plastic and being left with the black color that I want anyway? I was thinking of painting it black, but if I can get the old paint off, I won't have to worry about the black paint coming off.

go noles!
x10 lol. Sounds like we all have this issue. I agree it seems the necessary prepwork was not done on the dash. It flaked right off when I bumped mine with a screwdriver the other day. God forbid I let my Jack Russell in there...there'd be scratchmarks ALL OVER the dash and door lol
Remove paint from dash?
