Kinda feel bad

So i live up in cold @$$ montana, and in the winter i go through gas like no other due to the constant need of 4wd. Being a college kid im kinda concerned with saving money. Gas is KILLING me but i need a vehicle that can get me to the ski hill in snowy conditions in the winter. So i feel really bad but i decided im giving the truck back to my dad and im buying a subaru! Is it a sin getting a Subie or is it ok since its not a dodge???? haha

In your situation, you are making a very wise choice!

At least the truck is still in the family.

If I were gonna give up my truck, the Subie would be on my shortlist.

the only subaru i would consider would be a sti and that only good for rally. all the others subie cars wanting to be trucks and youll be missing your truck very shortly after you cant get threw that same pile of snow

I owned a subaru too and it only got MPGs in the low 20s except in easy highway driving where it got mid 20s. I load 300+ LBS of sand bags right up against my tailgate in my bed and run skinny snow tires for maximum 2WD traction while still getting right around 20 MPG.

Well i have always been in love with subarus and there is a crew of subaru guys i hang with pushing me to get one! im looking at a 2002 WRX with a butt load of aftermarket mods. Idk the gas mileage may not be like a huge difference but it def be better and plus the wrx with a stage 3 hks turbo ate a built lightning the other day. and it is still a nice cruising car! plus i will have the truck still just gotta ask my dad to borrow it,

I'm not sure about the gas mileage being any better. I test drove a Forrester XT (the sunroofs on those things are HUGE) and I think it was rated at 17mpg city, and I always get alot less than the epa rating. I know I'd be in the turbo all the time.

Yeah well my buddy has the exact same subie cuz hes the one that built it and built another (dont ask me why) but he is on the turbo CONSTANTLY and gets better gas mileage than me for damn sure haha and yeah the sunroof on it is gigantic. But the forresters kinda suck imo they are bigger and more box like. plus the 2.5rs impreza engine is so nice. imo the wrx is a much better vehicle for somebody in my situation.

and 4.2xl2001 to be honest i would take a subaru in the winter over a truck. especially in Montana winters, im not in need of a vehicle to go through snow drifts. plus in the dry pavement in the summer i would eat any truck for breakfast

how is buying a car cheaper than just putting gas in your truck?

Subarus are very prone to rust in the northeast too, mine was no exception. I think a new exhaust was over $1000 to replace... but if a zippy econobox is part of your order you won't be disappointed.
