how did you mount it to the roof? I know you said you would have to drill 1/2 inch holes. do you remove the head liner? I have a full 4 door. dont know anything about taking head liner out.

no i didnt take it out, i wish i had, the last hole i drilled went right through the headliner, but on the positive side, with a camo headliner i cant see or find the hole now. taking out the head liner is easy just remove your pillars, coat hanger screws, sun visor clips and dome light/ console and it you should have to just slide it back towards your rear window and it should fall. now getting it out, of a crew cab anyway is a whole different can of worms. i have a scab and mine slide out of the side. the mounts i ordered from ORU came with these nut/gasket combo nuts that were 1/2 inch in diameter. once you place the nut in the hole and tighten the bolt it squezzes the gasket and seals the hole. so no leaks. its rained here hard like 6 time since i finished the job and still no leaks.

here is the mount

tomorrow, if my truck isnt covered in snow, ill take a pic up close at the bolts.

it is 54"Lx44"Wx4"H

this is the company who made it:
http://www.wildernessracks.com/

and then there are defender racks:
http://www.defenderracks.com/default.asp

just depends on how much ya wanna spend i like defender racks, that is who i bought the mounts from but you cant beat a 25$ bone-yard roof rack XD hahah

the paint, mounts and lights cost more than the rack did but i LOVE it so far

looks good man. if you ever get around to building a roll cage design it so you can mount your roof rack to it, then you can do whatever you want and not have to worry about it ripping off your roof! lol

I said I wanted the rack he said I could have it for $25 if I took it off. So I take it off pay him for it and get it home and look the name of the rack up on the internet and according to its production year, 2009, it sold for 650. so long story short I got a $650.00 roof rack for $25.00. the lights and mounts cost me more than the rack did.

Now its got a new coat of bed liner, high gloss black paint to match my truck.

I plan to put my spare tire on it, since a 35'' doesn't fit under the bed

My next question is does anybody else have a roof rack?
What do you carry on it?

Here are some pics :

When i got it;

After i painted it:

Mounts:
ORU Defender roof rack mounts x4

Random pics of lights:

What brand is the roof rack? I've been looking to get one for my truck. I'm wanting to put my spare, a jack, a shovel and my toe equipment on it.
