Dead Tranny, F150 XLT Part Out

Hi everyone!

It seems that day has come where the transmission finally goes out. Completly burned out a few days ago and am going to sell to a scrap yard, but I am wondering what of value from the car should be taken out.

I was thinking of the computer, climate control, starter(1 month old), and radiator fan clutch.

Is there anything else that would be of any value despite the fact that the truck has 218K miles.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Tyler

Scrap yard won't give you much. Maybe $4-500?
I would sell it. Someone is looking for a donor I'm sure.

Well the lift never really happened. I had the kit and was planning on doing it in the next few weeks then the tranny died. Too much is really wrong to the truck to justify fixing it.

I have posted it to CL, and hope to get something, but I don't plan on sitting on it, and would like to get as much roi on it as possible.

The truck itself will end up being scrapped if no one on CL takes it, so this is why I would like to know all that would be worth taking before scrapping.

What could I really take from the interior? I guess just the seats and side paneling.

So far the list includes the computer, climate control hardware, starter(1 month old), radiator fan clutch, master cylinder and some intake parts.

Location? If you part it out or sell as is, you will make more $$.

Unless the truck is in really bad condition, you are throwing money away selling to a scrap yard.

Absolutely. I sold just my 99 9.75" rear axle with disc brakes for $400. And a ton of other parts I had laying around.

I live down here in Austin Texas.

Full Summary:

1998 F150 SuperCab 4.6L v8.
The majority of the body is in great shape, and the bed has scrape on rear passenger side, and 3 major dents on the drivers side. Over all the truck is nice.

I will post some photos once I have it towed back to me(auto shop).

The starter is 1-2 months old and still works great. Newest parts include an IAC valve, radiator fan clutch.

I also will be selling separatly the speakers, 4 Rockford Fosgate.

Interesting. Im not sure if my rear axle would be worth too much but I guess you never know.

The truck had 218,000 rough miles. Engine still works strong as always, but needs a helicoil for the passenger rear spark plug(PITA).

I'm in sanantonio now fixing to go to ft hood. If u want to part it out I'd be interested in the airbox and intake manifold. And your front seats if they arnt the 60/40 and have the seatbelt in the shoulder

Both front seats have 2-3 burn holes in them.

As for the airbox and intake, I have the Gotts intake mod if thats alright. I lost the original rubber intake tube and clamp.
