About to lift my truck ;D

First post on the site

I have a bright red 2003 F150 4.6L XLT SuperCab Flareside. (2WD)

-tinted windows
-billet grille
-flowmaster exhaust system

So I am about to lift my truck. I was planning on going with Springtech 3.5 inch spindles, and rough country 2" lift springs. Then I would go with a 5" block in the rear.

Is is a good combo? Would i need to replace my shocks, control arms, anything like that? How about getting an alignment?

And I know spindle lifts are pretty straight forward, but how difficult is it to install replacement coil springs? Do I need any special tools?

Sorry for all of the questions ^_^

Finally, a pick of my truck:

Since your going with a 5" block I'm assuming you want to keep the stock rake to the truck? If you want it level go with something like a 3" block.

And yea nice selection of combo, and you won't need new control arms either. But I'd recommend if you have the extra money just get the full springtech 6.5 kit, because once you go up you'll just wanna go bigger.

Yes you will need an alignment, and no special tools. But depending on how many miles are on the truck it'd be a good time to change the ball joints too.

My rear only sits 1" higher then the front. I have the feeling that the guy who owned my truck before me put in new coil springs in the front... Is there a way to tell if they are stock or not?

Not really without measuring them against a set of stock coils. And I think mine only sat about 2" higher in the front and with the 6.5 kit with a 4" block in the rear it's still about .5 to 1" lower in the front. Generally the lift coils will settle out a little more so what you think is gonna be level will leave you still a little high in the rear if that makes sense.

But since your rear is only about 1" higher I'd still go with a 4" block just to be safe, that gives you 1.5" less than the front and gives the front room to settle out some.

What size tire are you planning on running man?

33s. I just don't want to order 2" coils and find out that there are already 2" springs in there... I may just get a 3.5" spindle lift and 3" blocks. Could I fit 33s with that?

Yea you can fit 33's with just a spindle lift, you might have to do some minor trimming but nothing to major. It also depends if your truck had a factory rear block or not. But if those are stock size tires in your pic up there you definitely do not have lift coils in there.

They are 255/70/16. What does that have to do with the coil springs?

Because they fill up the wheel wells in the front, if it had 2" springs it'd take something bigger like between a 31 to 32" tire to fill it up like that. If I had to guess the reason the difference is only one inch is either the previous owner hauled a lot in the bed with it and just sagged the leafs over time, or it doesn't have a factory rear block in it.

As far as I know, 2wd trucks didn't come with rear blocks. Also my driveway might be slightly sloped, so I will measure the heights again later today.

On another note... If I were to install just the 3.5" spindles and 3" blocks, would I need new uca's, shocks, or an alignment?

You won't need any of those with spindles, it doesn't effect the geometry or add any length so your stock length shocks will be fine too.
