Backup sensors on an 03?

Has anyone ever put backup sensors on an 03?

I hate backing my truck up, can't hardly see but yet my parents 4x4 F250 KR Super Crew Extended bed i can back up just fine, and the backup sensors make it even easier and I WANT THEM!!!

Does anyone have these? Do they look good/stock? Is it hard to do? Whats the best? Thanks!

Yeah, I mean i've looked up the stuff and they make sensor kits that "fit" our trucks, I just want to know if anyone has done it.

I dont see why you couldnt? It would just involve drilling in the rear bumper probably...

A lot of Navigators and Expeditions had that as an option in '03, so there shouldn't be a problem making it work, even if you wanted to hunt down factory Ford parts. It should be cheaper with a universal aftermarket kit, but either way you will need to drill into the bumper, unless you go with the cheap hitch mounted option available.

I think what i'm doing now is i'm getting the Pioneer 4300DV headunit and it has a hookup for a rearview camera, so i'm just gonna run that and mount it above my license plate.

the f250 is easy to backup because of tow mirrors

^ Agree w/ the back up camera... You can get them fairly cheap now, especially if you are only buying half of it to go with your head unit.

Only thing is some of them have kind of a fish eye effect & judging distance takes some time getting use to.

i went with a back up camera on mine. ended up angling the camera so i can see the edge of the bumper & once i got use to it, i can park inches away from whatever is behind me. i use it every time I'm backing, lol.

if you do go with a camera, get a decent one. i started with a cheap $25 one from ebay & after it rained a couple times, the inside of the lense had bad condensation. i ended up getting a BOYO brand & the picture is great day & night.

i also ended up putting a little switch in so i can turn it on whenever, not just when backing.

02 expy had the optional parking aid. It is possible on our gen trucks, with a factory look. They had the switch installed on the center console in the same spot as the switch above^^

According to my brief google search its actually 00-02 expys that had it as an option

are these questions to me? if so, i definitely like the head unit. there are others out there, with other/more features, but this one is great for my needs. as for the camera, i just bought mine on ebay. i did a search of the brand BOYO. i would buy from a store on ebay, that way if you have problems with it for some reason, you can talk to them about returns. like i said, i tried one of those cheap $25 back up cameras, but after a couple times of wet weather, the lense had condensation in it.

Yeah they are towards you.

Did you get the circular one or the bar one? Do you have a pic of the actual camera installed on the back of your truck? How hard was it?

Thanks for all the info, i really like to know almost everything I can about something before I buy it.

They had a sale on them (with the bigger screen) a few weeks ago at the local parts store. After reading this thread I'm once again thinking about picking one up myself!
