How to FIX Chime that won't stop dinging when key is out.
I searched around and around trying to figure out why my chime wouldn't stop dinging like the key is in the ignition when it wasn't. I found sever ways to disable it but none stopped me. I figured out why mine was dinging and how to easily fix it. I'm creating this write up to explain what I did. I will also explain how to disable this chime and link to other threads.
If someone has already covered this repair I couldn't find it.
Step One:
Put key in and turn forward to run (just before you crank).
Insert punch or similar up hole located underneath steering column to push pin in and then pull out key cylinder.

This is a picture of the bottom cover of the steering column.
Step Two:
Look inside shaft where the key cylinder was. If you don't see this little metal tab it has fallen inside like mine and needs to be reattach so you can probably skip the next step.
Step Three:
Disabling or repairing switch.

Notice the yellow lines point to an orange block. The orange block moves when the key is inserted into the ignition which closes the circuit and triggers the chime. Mine operated correctly but if yours doesn't you can probably bend it a bit and it will work correct. If you want to simply disable it, you can remove this entire orange switch by prying up below the red line and sliding the entire orange switch to the left. Some have covered the contacts with tape.
Slide key cylinder back in and if it's fixed you are done!
Step four:
Remove steering column panel.

Three philips head screws shown in yellow.
Step five:
Locate loose connection. See yellow lines. As I unscrewed the lower panel my chime STOPPED and started so I knew I was onto something.
Step six:
Tape the connector back into place.
The metal tab needs to be poking out like the second picture. The upper panel pulled up and out of the way enough to work. I placed the connector back in position and taped around several times with electrical tape. I made sure it was taunt but not really tight and every time around I over lapped and cut it and started again. Inside the cylinder I found the tab that broke and I tried super gluing the tab into place but it broke when I place it back in. If I would have waited longer it might have worked. If you use super glue make sure it is dry.

Hope this helps and thanks to everyone who posted information on this topic which allowed me to fix my chime!
