97 Ford F-150 Temperature Gauge Problem

Hi im new here and my 1997 F-150s temp gauge is having a problem. When I start it up the gauge goes to the middle and then it slowly goes up from there. Then it will jump past the H into the red area above it. After about 25-30 seconds it will jump back to the middle. I don't know if it is the temp gauge or the fact that its 115 outside.

This is my first truck so I'm new to all of this.

Any info or solution would be appreciated

Providing you don't have air in your cooling system and your truck is not overheating it is probably your sending unit. Either a loose wire or the sending unit itself.
