Removing Body Side Moldings
Removing Body Side Moldings
Has anyone removed the side moldings on the bottom of the doors?? I know that the emblems have holes behind them so I'm not going to take those off until I'm ready to paint it. I was just wondering if the moldings were held by that double stick tape stuff. Here is a pic of my 2001 F150. Any info would be awesome!!!
Yes, plenty of people have done it on here. There's plenty of threads about it. Just get your self some goo gone and a hairdryer and its easy to get off. Just heat it up at one end and start pulling SLOWLY other wise you'll pull paint and just heat it up as you go along. Some people like to use fishing line to kinda cut through it as they go but you don't have to. Once you have it off start scraping the big chunks of leftover tape off with your finger nail (your hands will hurt by the time your done) and then just take the goo gone and get rid of whatever little residue is leftover.
I should make it home for Christmas, it's still a long way from now but I just want to get the know how on all the stuff I wanna do, so when I'm home for 15 days I don't waste any time. Like I bought an Expy center console, and that's in my room waiting to be put in. I won't be back for good until June of 2012.
Ok, thanks for the info!

Ok yeah I'll probably do it in my garage with a bunch of heaters and a hair dryer. I live in CA so it doesn't get retarded cold lol
oh that would suck! Yeah i'm gonna do that, get some HID's and install my expy center console
I can't wait to get mine off. I'll use heat, I don't want to pull any paint off.
Spend your money on an eraser wheel, you can find them online for under ten bucks. I did mine awhile back and one side came off almost with all the double sided tape so I only needed to use a little goo gone on that side but the other side came off with all the double sided tape on my truck and that was not worth the effort to use goo gone.
Here's how easy the eraser wheel is!
