cigarette lighter / 12V power plug fuses
cigarette lighter / 12V power plug fuses
There is two 12V power plugs / cigarette lighter plugs in my dash, Im sure they all have both. I blew a fuse for the one on the left by using a 12v air compressor after the pismo meet and I cant figure out where the fuse is. Ive done it once before and found the fuse number on here but Ive been searching and cant find it...I want to say it was a fuse in the fuse block under the hood but I cant remember for sure. Any help would be awesome as its really nice having both so you can use a radar detector and still have once open when you need it!
Do you have an owners manual?

I did more searching and figured out its called the "power point" and is fuse #1 under the hood...BUT the fuse is good (by eye AND test light) is there another inline fuse or any reason I would have power at the fuse but NOT at the plug?
try twisting the plug. mine comes loose every once and a while and a good twist clockwise gets a good connection. if that doesnt do it, i'd pull and visually check for broken wires
One socket is different from the other and not meant to be used for utility use.
A standard plug does not fit the center contact correctly and why you have a problem with it making contact..
Utility current draw rating is less than 20 amps on the utility socket.
Good luck.

what is it meant for then? Ive used both together for the same thing Im trying to now for years...I plug my radar detector into the right one (cigar lighter) and then my phone charger into the left one (power point) regardless the power point is not getting power to it as I have tested it with a test light with multiple good grounds that worked fine for the cigar lighter.

Look into the cigar socket to see the difference in the center electrode between the two and look at the lighter tip.
A utility plug is not 'reliable' for use in the Ford lighter socket.
Fuse for the power point is location 1 under the hood.
Cigar socket is location 3 under the dash.
Most after market plugs have a fuse in their body as well.
Get the fuses under control and you will have power again.
