Truck wont start! Battery or starter
Truck wont start! Battery or starter
Manual transmission 200 f150 have had no problems until now
first i went to start it and it acted like it had a dead battery so i wiggled the battery wires and the lights came on tried to start it and the battery sparked and lights and everything goes back off
So i had someone try to start it i wiggled the battery wire and had someone else tap on the starter or sylinoid and it started up
Do i need a new starter or could it have something to do with my battery?

If you see results from movng the battery cables, why not start there by removing both, cleaning them and the battery posts and making sure they are tight on the posts when you put them back on?
You need to remove the cables from the battery, clean them well and reinstall, then see what happens. Until you do that, you won't know if there is anything else wrong or not.

Ashley,
Everyone posting so far is correct, the fact that the battery "sparked" when you tried to start the truck after you "wiggled" the wires indicates a loose connection to the battery. You need to do the following:
1. Remove the battery cables from the battery and clean the cable connections and the battery posts with a wire brush, if they have corrosion on them (White or brown debris) also clean them with a baking soda and water paste and rinse.
2. Reconnect the battery cables and tighten until you cannot twist them on the posts, do not over tighten the bolts, this will only cause you problems later.
3. Start the truck, once you get it started take it to an auto parts store (Autozone, Advanced etc.) and have them test the battery and electrical system system most places do it for free. The reason I say this is if the battery connections were loose enough to spark then the battery wasn't getting charged back up when the truck was running and you may have to have the battery charged.
Good luck and it is good to see another Floridian here!
